About this Unit Converter

This unit converter is built for speed and clarity. Choose your measurement category, enter a value, and see the result instantly. You can swap the “from” and “to” units with one tap, adjust output precision to match your needs, and view a quick table that converts your value to every unit in the category at once. Internally, the math uses standard SI base units (Kelvin for temperature, meter for length, kilogram for mass, etc.) so conversions are consistent and traceable. Nothing is sent to a server; all calculations happen in your browser for a fast, private experience.

How to use

  1. Pick a category. Length, Weight/Mass, Area, Volume, or Temperature. The “From” and “To” dropdowns update automatically with the right unit list.
  2. Enter a value. Type a number in the Value box. The result updates as you change units or precision. If you need a different direction, hit Swap.
  3. Set precision. Use the Precision menu to control how many decimals are shown. This affects the displayed values and the “to all” table.
  4. Copy or export. Click Copy result to put the current answer on your clipboard or Download CSV to save the whole “to all” table for your records.
  5. Read the formula. The Formula field shows the exact relationship used, including multipliers to and from the base unit, or the standard temperature equations.

Understanding the results

For Length, Weight/Mass, Area, and Volume, conversions use fixed multipliers to an SI base unit. For example, 1 inch equals 0.0254 meters and 1 pound equals exactly 0.45359237 kilograms. Your input is first mapped to the base, then scaled to the target unit. The Formula field displays those factors so you can verify the math. Temperature is different because it involves both scaling and offsets. The tool converts everything through Kelvin internally, which keeps Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin in sync and avoids rounding drift when you chain conversions.

The Quick table shows your input converted to every unit in the chosen category. This is handy when you are not sure which unit a supplier, blueprint, or recipe will use. If a value looks slightly off from what you expect, increase the Precision setting to show more decimals. Display rounding does not change the underlying calculation; it only changes how many digits you see.

FAQ

Which definitions are used? We use standard definitions such as 1 in = 2.54 cm, 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg, and 1 US gallon = 3.785411784 L.

Why do temperature results differ from a simple ratio? Temperature scales include offsets (like +273.15 for K or −32 for °F). The converter handles these using the official formulas.

Can I get a full table for printing? Yes. Use Download CSV and open it in Excel or Google Sheets. It includes the one-to-all conversions for your current input.

Does the precision change the math? No. Precision only affects the displayed rounding. The internal calculation uses full floating-point precision.
